September 25th, 2019 – InternetNow’s Quarterly Teh-Tarik Session @ KL Gateway

In the first half of 2019, close to 2.5 million malware threats were detected, reported and blocked in Malaysia. Hence, our theme for this month’s Teh-Tarik was CyberSecurity Evolved! Participants were cautioned to the constantly evolving cyber threats in the IoT and the importance to step up and evolve their current security solutions from having a silo mentality to communicating together as a system.

Ilyas Sapiyan, Director of InternetNow, welcomed guests by sharing money can’t buy, real-world ransomware negotiation experience faced by a government-linked company (GLC) in Klang Valley – as he was leading the negotiation team to retrieve the data.

Isaac Wong, Security Solutions Architect of Sophos Malaysia along with Ilyas, then wrapped up this Teh-Tarik session by sharing with guests how Sophos solutions share threat intelligence and talk to each other while being managed through a single, centralized interface – from firewall to endpoint to WiFi. Increasing their return on investment (ROI) by scaling their security without scaling their resources by consolidating all their protection to a single cloud-based platform.

“Disruptive Technology – one that displaces an established technology and shakes up the industry or a ground-breaking product that creates a completely new industry.”
(Christensen 1997)

By introducing Synchronized Security, Sophos has disrupted the technology in the Cybersecurity Industry by evolving to be the world’s first cybersecurity system that has its endpoint, network, mobile, Wi-Fi, email and encryption products, all sharing information in real-time and responding automatically to incidents by:

  • Isolating infected endpoints and blocking lateral movement
  • Restricting Wi-Fi for non-compliant mobile devices
  • Scanning endpoints on detection of compromised mailboxes
  • Revoking encryption keys if a threat is detected
  • Identifying all apps on the network

And everything is controlled through Sophos Central, a cloud-based platform. Thus, providing better network visibility, faster incident response time while easing the daily task of an IT Administrator.

Last but not least, no Teh Tarik Session is complete without our engaging WhatsApp Q&A session.

Congratulations to the winners who brought home a variety of gifts.
