Dear <name>,
The recently enforced Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA 2010) is about to be tested in Malaysian courts for the first time.
Malaysian celebrity, Hanez Suraya, filed a suit against Malaysian Airlines (MAS) for allegedly disclosing flight information on Facebook. Earlier last month, news of her escapade to Bangkok with her boyfriend (who is a married man) spread on social media along with photos of their MAS ticket stubs.
Communications and Multimedia Minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said Hanez Suraya and her boyfriend's action to sue MAS will be the test case for PDPA in preventing misusage of the individual's personal data.
"I believe this is an interesting case and will be the test case for PDPA 2010 where each company that has personal data, is not allowed to leak that data, especially when the data is sensitive", he further elaborates.
